Exploring Cross-Disciplinary Research Papers From the Asia-Pacific Region

Research from the Asia-Pacific region has often received limited attention in Western media and some academic publications. Yet, this is changing for pharmaceutical and investment companies. These organizations now recognize the value and potential of the region's innovative science and innovative organizational structures. But we should not lose perspective: ultimately, they are focused on increasing returns for their shareholders. Still, research papers are only one of several factors these companies consider.

As noted in previous articles, some members of Organizational DNA Labs collaborate with or are working with these organizations. As a private group, we maintain research databases in our areas of activity. One of our main goals is to help students in non-profit organizations strengthen their critical thinking skills.

To begin exploring research from this region, here are three papers to consider:

China: Effect of exercise on bone health in middle aged and older adults: hierarchical network meta-analysis of randomised trials (Published 09 September 2026).

Objective: To examine the type and dose of exercise needed to maintain bone mineral density (BMD) and reduce fracture risk in adults aged 40 years or older.

Results: In 124 trials, brisk walking or jogging, and the combination of aerobic and resistance exercises, improved some bone mineral density outcomes. Mixing aerobic and mind-body exercises may also help lower fracture risk. The link between the amount of exercise and results was not always straightforward. The greatest benefits were observed at about 600 METs-min per week, or about two to three hours of brisk walking or jogging. Combining aerobic and mind-body exercises may further lower fracture risk.

Japan: Toward a Physical Operating System for Agentic Commerce: The Emerging Role of Amazon Supply Chain Services (Published 18 September 2026)

Objective: To study the Physical Execution Layer, where AI agents turn digital decisions into real-world actions.

Results: As the Internet moves into an era of AI-driven commerce, Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS) is becoming a key "Physical Operating System." It works alongside AWS in a Dual-OS setup, turning digital decisions and optimizations into real-world actions.

Indonesia: Analysis of High School Students’ Difficulties in Solving Mathematics Story Problems on Opportunity Material (Published 1 June 2024)

Objective: The research seeks to describe the difficulties students experience in solving mathematics story problems on opportunity material (understanding the problem, carrying transformations, processing skills, and drawing conclusions).

Results: Students had difficulty translating real-world scenarios into formal mathematical statements and converting numerical answers back into written conclusions, rather than lacking calculation skills.

Finally, as stated earlier, papers are a tool for debate with students, comparing them with similar research from other countries in the discussion sections. Many creative perspectives emerge, prompting us to rethink our conclusions. We think that, because the Asia-Pacific region has often received limited attention, these studies could also help us all become aware of and analyze different research perspectives from other parts of the world.

Expanding the Perspectives of Western Research Papers with those of the Asia-Pacific Area
